Owen “smooya” Butterfield is making his return to the server according to a report from Dexerto. The AWPer from the United Kingdom will be not be a permanent member according to the report.

He will be taking the place of Sean “Gratisfaction” Kaiwai due to Visa issues preventing the AWPer from attending. smooya has been inactive since he was benched from the active lineup of BIG at the start of February.

Renegades have had a strong showing over recent months since the addition of Gratisfaction and Jay “Liazz” Tregillgas at the end of 2018. The majority Aussie team made a deep run into the quarterfinals of the IEM Katowice Major and showed it wasn’t a fluke with a semifinals performance against top tier opponents at the StarSeries i-League Season 7 finals in Shanghai, China.

Also noted in the report is the fact that “if smooya plays for Renegades, he will be unable to play for another team in the league should the player he is replacing return mid-season.” This could certainly alter his stock for teams who may be interested moving forward.

The 19-year-old has been on the hunt for a new organization to call home since his benching and two months later he’s still very much on the market.
