Astralis didn’t get off to the start they were hoping for in ESL Pro League and have continued a questionable strong of results. The current No. 2 in the world according to the HLTV rankings opened up their ESL Pro League Season 11 run with a match against Ninjas in Pyjamas and it wasn’t pretty.
NiP came out of the gate on Vertigo, dismantling the Danish side’s defense to cruise to a 12-3 lead from the T side. Swapping over to the defense, NiP lost the pistol and the following eco rounds but bounced back once rifles were comfortably in their hands and took the first map 16-6. Let’s not forget Vertigo has been a strong map for Astralis in the past.
It was, however, NiP’s pick though and that meant now it was time to play on Astralis’. Overpass was their home for the series, and unfortunately for them it didn’t go much better. NiP once again stormed off to a strong lead which would result in an 11-4 halftime advantage. A tit-for-tat approach in the second half would favor NiP as they went 5-4 to close out the map and take the series 2-0 over Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander’s side.
Astralis’ next match will come against GODSENT tomorrow, March 18th. Another loss will certainly have the Counter-Strike scene reeling and wondering what happened to Astralis.
