Following another two teams making their exits, Liquid and ENCE await the winners of the next two series in the semifinals.
Vitality and Heroic will battle it out to decide who will meet the worlds best team in Liquid while either G2 or MIBR will earn their place against ENCE.
Liquid took down Envy and G2 in their opening two matches to claim a semifinals appearance, the latter going the distance of three maps after an initial 13-16 loss on dust2 by the North Americans. They would bounce back for a 16-13 win of their own before closing it out in more confident fashion with a 16-9 victory.
ENCE found themselves opening up group b with a 2-0 victory of the Aussies of Renegades. The boys from down under made them sweat in map one but couldn’t keep the momentum in the second. It was a closer ordeal when ENCE took on Heroic in the group b decider. A 16-12 victory for the Finnish side in map one was followed by an even closer 16-14 win over Heroic on Nuke after the majority Danish squad made a significant comeback attempt.
The recently reinvigorated G2 lineup will be favored going against an MIBR who are left playing with Wilton “zews” Prado, the teams coach. Just yesterday we saw G2 roll over the Brazilian squad 16-9 and 16-6. A return to form from Richard “shox” Papillon and Kenny “kennyS” Schrub has made G2 a much more formidable foe no matter who they face.
On the other side, it’s Vitality who have to hold the position of favorites even with an opening map loss to Heroic. Vitality is currently the second best team in the world and in a best-of-three have shown they can hold their own with anyone. Heroic will be no easy task, however, as they’ve had a tough road so far and still pushed teams to their limits every step of the way.
