With Intel Extreme Masters Sydney fast approaching, ESL has revealed the groups for the event. The 16-team event will feature a $250,000 prize pool and kick off on April 30.

The attending teams have been split into two groups of eight where they’ll play best-of-ones in their opening matches before swapping to best-of-threes. The group stage will be played as a double-elimination bracket.

Winners of the groups will be moved directly to the semi-finals where they’ll wait for the rest to earn their place. The winners of the semi-finals will then move into a best-of-five grand final match.

Liquid headlines Group A where they’re joined by Ninjas in Pyjamas, mousesports, BIG, Renegades, eUnited, MVP PK, and BOOT-d[s]. Liquid are certainly the favorites but there’s plenty of competition to be had within those first four squads.

Group B is a bit more up in the air with FaZe, fnatic, NRG, and MIBR battling it out alongside some locals in the form of Chiefs and Grayhound. Rounding out the group is ViCi and Heroic.

The winner of this event will have earned a point towards Intel Grand Slam Season 2 in addition to the trophy and lion’s share of the prize pool.

– NiP

– eUnited
