After picking up a win at BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen, things were looking up for FaZe Clan but there was still plenty to be cautious about.
The international roster took down some top teams including trouncing over Astralis but the event was best-of-one until the finals where they took down Ninjas in Pyjamas in a close match.
This was a major stride after a scary start for the new lineup that included losses against some not so expected teams such as Virtus.pro. The team added Marclo “coldzera” David officially just before ESL One New York and BLAST was the first glimpse at what the roster could be.
Carrying it into IEM, FaZe have taken down the current top team in Evil Geniuses. Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and company made swift work of the North American side with a 2-0 win in which EG was unable to break double digits on either map.
An even better look for the team, NiKo and coldzera looked to be hitting their stride as the team’s main duo. NiKo finished with a massive +25 kill-to-death record and 103 average damage per round with coldzera picking up +14 record by the end of the series.
There’s still plenty of tournament left to play but FaZe has shown they weren’t a flash in the pan with their performance in Copenhagen.
