As one of the most stacked tournaments on the calendar, some big teams are bound to face an early exit from ESL One Cologne. Today, three major CSGO brands in FaZe Clan, MIBR, and ENCE had to pack their bags and say goodbye to the “Cathedral”.
For FaZe Clan, the loss came at the hands of their former IGL, Finn “karrigan” Andersen. The Dane led mousesports to a 2-0 victory on the back of 19-15 Inferno and a 16-8 trample on Mirage. The elimination is another one in a string of poor performances for FaZe Clan, who’ve played only two finals this year: one at BLAST Pro Series Miami and another one at the low-impact ELEAGUE CS:GO Invitational.
MIBR and ENCE had even worse showings than FaZe, going out in the first round of the losers bracket in their group. MIBR lost 1-2 to BIG, who dropped to the lower bracket after winning only four rounds against Astralis. ENCE also went out on a 1-2 score, as they found themselves outclassed by Vitality, losing Overpass (16-9) and Inferno (16-9) in a rather one-sided games.
By the end of the day, one more team will be ousted from ESL One Cologne as Natus Vincere play FURIA for their tournament lives.
