ENCE have followed Astralis’ lead by signing a sixth man to its Counter-Strike division. Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen has been brought on board with a two-year contract and will be replacing Sami “xseveN” Laasanen in the active lineup for several upcoming tournaments. The 18-year-old was previously contracted to SJ and is now able to join ENCE free of charge.
He won’t be participating in the ESL One: Road to Rio, however, as it’s a Valve sponsored event and Jamppi is currently barred from participation due to a VAC ban on his account from years ago. He’ll still be playing with the squad during their DreamHack Masters Spring and Elisa Invitational runs in the coming weeks.
That isn’t the only change taking place for the lineup, however, as Miikka “suNny” Kemppi moves into the in-game leader position in place of Aleksi “allu” Jalli. allu had been serving as the captain of the lineup since Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen was benched and transferred following the StarLadder Major.
“It has been a rocky road in the past few months, which has caused issues with the players mentally and affected their performance. We as an organization have to make steps towards further professionalizing the environment in a multitude of ways. ” ENCE General Manager Niklas Ojalainen said in the official post to ENCE’s website. “Our results have been very disappointing, so changes needed to happen. Signing Elias to the team was an opportunity we couldn’t pass on and he deserves the chance to showcase his talent to the world.”
