Things were looking up for the roster after following up a stellar Major run with a victory at ESL One New York, however, it seems there’s been a bump in the road. Evil Geniuses CS:GO team has been eliminated from DreamHack Masters Malmö in last place.

The North American side would make it to the event just a day prior due to a tight schedule that saw them immediately making their way to the airport following their hoisting of the trophy in New York. The next morning they’d open up their tournament against the Australian team of Grayhound Gaming.

The Aussies would come out swinging, defeating EG on Nuke 16-10 thanks to 100+ ADR games from Simon “sico” Williams and Christopher “dexter” Nong.

Facing elimination, EG had to take on a strong mousesports roster in the lower bracket. A 16-10 loss on mirage would pin EG with backs against the wall and although they’d manage overtime in map two, things wouldn’t end in their favor resulting in an 0-2 loss and elimination.

Tarik “tarik” Celik took to Twitter to share his disappointment, stating that “the circumstance make the losses here so much more frustrating” referring to the quick travel across the planet leading into jet lag.

Only time will tell how EG rebounds after only receiving minimal time to rejoice in their victory before being thrown flat on their faces.

mousesports will need to pick up two more wins to make it out and could potentially face off against Team Liquid who won their lower bracket match against North 2-1 should they both make it to the lower bracket final.
