The Liquid reign of terror in mid to late 2019 is still ringing in the ears of those who suffered at the hands of the North American side.
One such player is Vitality’s Dan “apEX” Madesclaire whose teams finished second to Team Liquid at several events throughout 2019.
Prominent CS:GO analyst Duncan “Thorin” Shields had taken to Twitter to provide his take on Team Liquid’s Intel Grand Slam run being “so criminally under-rated” especially given the way the team did it, “without dropping a tournament.” apEX decided to share his thoughts in response, stating that he “had never played such a dominant team. At Cologne/Chicago, I didn’t even have time to miss shot. That was super scary!”
Coming from a member of the second-best team in the world at the time, it shows just how far ahead the No. 1 ranked team, Liquid, was from the rest of the pack.
Liquid took home six tier-one titles in a row with victories at IEM Sydney 2019, DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019, ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals, ESL One Cologne 2019, BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles 2019, and IEM Chicago 2019.
The North American’s run would end with the coming of the player break prior to the StarLadder Major in Berlin where they finished 5th-8th before following it up with a 3rd-4th at ESL One New York.
Regardless of where Liquid is now, apEX and other pros certainly won’t be forgetting just how dominant the team was during their miraculous 2019 run.
