The FACEIT Major London was the first big test for the new G2 roster and they showed mixed results. Two victories in overtimes against HR and C9, two logical losses versus mibr and FaZe. Their legend spot fate was pretty much sealed by losing to coL in the second match, a game where they were favorites in and could have moved to the 2-0 bracket.
Right after the event, the team decided to add the former EnVyUs coach, Damien “maLeK” Marcel, at least for the ESL One: New York. In the Big Apple, they started really well by beating FaZe Clan in BO3, a team that they always had trouble against. Sadly for them, they then lost to Liquid and against NRG in the decider games.
As criticism multiplies around Edouard “SmithZz” Dubourdeaux and Alexandre “bodyy” Pianaro, Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom recently openly said to VPEsports that he was available to join G2. He even specified that he would love to play again alongside “good people” like Ex6TenZ, shox and SmithZz.
It’s in that context that we can tell you that according to our information, no changes are expected in the team for the next months. Despite Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez’s criticism of the team on twitter, they will still have time to build around Kevin “Ex6TenZ” Droolans and Richard “shox” Papillon, the instigators of the project.
We can even tell you that according to our sources, the squad also signed new contracts before the major until around the end of 2020. The new deal involves a lower salary but a safer status for players daily life.
However, not all the players signed the new deal and as we speak, Kenny “kennyS” Schrub still has not signed the contract. As of today, nothing is decided and seeing kennyS leave for free in February could be a more than credible hypothesis. Negotiations are still on going between the sniper and the organization.
