North America has already found two out of the three teams set to attend the upcoming MDL Disneyland® Paris Major. Evil Geniuses, the region’s powerhouse
EG and coL started their qualifiers run from the same group and while the NA juggernauts finished the group stage undefeated, coL came right behind them with two victories and one loss to secure an upper bracket slot in the playoffs. EG’s flawless run through the qualifiers comes as no surprise, as they are one of the four teams already qualified for The International 2019 and they have been the dominant team in the region for a long time now. coL’s performance however is somewhat surprising. The team hasn’t been seen at a Dota 2 Major since EPICENTER XL, which took place in May 2018. Post TI8 coL underwent a few roster changes and when they finally settled for three players coming from Southeast Asia, they had to win the visa battle first in order to bring everyone together to practice and play from the coL team house. Their latest addition was coach Murielle “Kips” Huisman, who started to work with the team just before ESL One Katowice 2019. compLexity finished bottom four in Katowice back in February 2019, on the same position with Forward Gaming (FWD), but with FWD having to tinker their roster just very recently, it was coL who emerged victorious last night to finally make it back onto a Major stage.
Forward Gaming, J.Storm, Team Team and Team Xolotl are the four who will resume their qualifiers battle later today, April 1, hoping to grab the final ticket available in the NA region for the MDL Disneyland® Paris Major. The LAN event will unfold May 4th to May 12th at the Disney Events Arena from Paris, France and the tickets for the live audience are already available on the MDL Disneyland® Paris Major official website.
