Valentine Madness is a $100,000 invitational tournament organized by WePlay and while the competition will take place online, the talent will visit the organizer’s studios from Kiev, Ukraine.

The tournament itself has a twisted format which will allow the first lower bracket round losers to play one more game for a possible comeback. WePlay named it “3 Game Guarantee System,” and will have a total of 12 teams competing February 9 to 16. Another twist from what Dota 2 fans are rather used to is that the panel host is actually coming from the card games genre.

Roberto” RobAJG” Gonzales, who very recently also hosted the WePlay! Artifact Mighty Triad: Agility tournament, will return to the studios to host his first Dota 2 event. With him conducting the discussions, Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden, David “GoDz” Parker, Owen “ODPixel” Davies, Nick “BreakyCPK” Caras will be the four commentators for Valentine Madness.

WePlay also announced half of the teams attending the event. Gambit Esports, who are the Champions of WePlay! Winter Madness, are confirmed already to be one of the four teams who will start the competition straight from the upper bracket quarterfinals. They will be joined by other three teams who will receive Tier 1 invites. Other teams who have been confirmed to participate are Alliance, The Final Tribe, The Pango, Winstrike and Pavaga.
