Following announcements for Overwatch, Warcraft, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Starcraft, it was finally Diablo’s turn to excite the crowd.
With Senior Game Designer Wyatt Cheng taking the stage, he brought the news that the Diablo franchise would be getting an all new game, Diablo Immortal.
The game is set in the 20 years between Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction and Diablo 3. Diablo Immortal will give players a direct look at what happened that led to the landscape of Diablo 3.
“The Worldstone lies shattered, yet great power remains within its corrupted fragments. Power that Diablo’s minions hope to harness to bring about the return of the Lord of Terror. The Archangel Tyrael is presumed dead, and mankind is left to deal with the aftermath of his actions. Fragments of the corrupted Worldstone taint the land, bringing forth ancient evils who are looking to harvest the stone’s power and use it to control humanity,” the description from the official site reads.
Diablo Immortal is a mobile game and will allow for an online multiplayer experience.
