In recent days PSG.LGD have made headlines with roster changes that they hoped would help them reach their first Major of the season – but this was not to be as they would fall prey to the open qualifiers once again.

The China open qualifiers for ESL One Los Angeles kicked off yesterday and there was only really one name on everyone’s mind when looking through the list of teams participating: PSG.LGD. The runners-up of The International 2018 and third place finishers at TI9 had fallen a long way after skipping out on the Dota 2 Pro Circuit season’s first Major – leaving themselves with open qualifiers to try get back into the swing of things. However, the team did not even make it out of the first day of open qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 13 and while things looked promising for them this time around, it all went wrong again.

Blaze would be the team that absolutely obliterated LGD in the final, sending the relatively new squad into the China closed qualifiers for ESL One Los Angeles. This team features relatively unknown players except for Bi ‘AXX’ Xia, a female player that once played on the Newbee.boss roster. This will make her the first female to ever reach and play in Dota 2 closed qualifiers and it will be interesting to see if Blaze can cause more upsets as they now are set to meet some of the best teams in China.

For PSG.LGD, it seems that their recent roster changes were not enough to lift them out of their slump and, while the team could still be finding their footing, we will not see them at a Major until possibly EPICENTER in May – but they will still have to first make it through open qualifiers.
