Respawn Entertainment has officially announced a solos game mode. The catch? It’s a limited time mode.
The Iron Crown Collection Event as its titled will begin next week, running from August 13th to August 27th.
Very little additional information has been shared and it can be assumed this is but a test run of what’s to come.
Many fans had started to gain more faith in the idea that solos would be coming to Apex Legends with the recent claim from Respawn Entertainment that “one of the most fan-requested features since launch” would be entering the game.
A recent leak suggested that solos and duos would be coming to Apex Legends sooner rather than later.
According to “That1MiningGuy” there’s a new setting in the games’ files titled “no fill.” This feature is enable in other games as well and allows teams or solos to set themselves a player or two down by choosing the option which elects to leave the empty spot(s) unfilled.
This feature would of course mean players could drop into games as a solo and go up against duos and full teams. That1MiningGuy claims that while this could happen, the game will first attempt to fill the lobby with other solos or duos before adding others.
While the announcement doesn’t completely rule out the possibility that the gaps would be filled with trios, it doesn’t directly say it will either. Given how long this feature has been requested, I’d wager it will be solos only, at least for now.
Whether or not the solos or duos will ever make their way into the ranked mode is unknown although we’re sure it won’t be long until the community is calling for it once they get a taste.
Not everyone is craving the option though as many recognize the games design and intent to have characters (Legends) whose abilities are meant to be chosen to work together in the best way.
