Day 2 of 2019 League of Legends World Championship was a loaded one. Apart from the debut of G2 Esports and Griffin, the schedule also delivered the TL/iG rematch from MSI and the high-octane clash between SKT and RNG. At the end of the day, this is how the standings are:
SK Telecom and Invictus Gaming are the convincing leaders of their groups. SKT earned it through a 45-minute nail-biter of a game against RNG — a spectacle that broke 2.04M concurrent viewers. iG, on the other hand, showed return to their Worlds 2018 form in their win against Team Liquid and are now looking to their next test in DAMWON Gaming tomorrow.
Day 2 saw the opening matches of Group A and the West came out of those unscathed. G2 Esports were head and shoulders above Griffin, with Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski delivering a master class on jungling against LCK’s second seed. As for Cloud9, they had to survive a slug-fest of a game against Hong Kong Attitude, who taunted them for 40 minutes with a Garen/Yuumi combo that just wouldn’t die.
Tomorrow is a relatively slower day hype-wise, although there are a couple of matches that are a must-watch. iG open the day against DAMWON, and two matches later, FunPlus Phoenix will try to redeem themselves against Splyce after losing to J Team on day 1. The day finishes with a classic EU vs. NA battle between G2 and Cloud9.
