In a stunning revelation, Newbee announced on their Weibo and then their Twitter channel that the organization has acquired the ex-Forward Gaming roster!

The roster of Yawar, CCnC, Sneyking, MSS and pieliedie was left stranded when the organization Forward Gaming dissolved due to financial problems. Even though they had qualified for TI9, they could no longer continue and had to call it quits and the roster was left stranded days before the biggest Dota 2 event of the year, The International 2019. The speculation was that another North American organization like Cloud9 or Optic Gaming would step forward and punch their ticket to TI9 with this roster. But in a completely unexpected twist, it turned out to be the Chinese organization Newbee, who won The International in 2014 and were runners-up in 2017. Their Facebook page put up a post saying the following:

Newbee and the players, coach and manager of former Forward Gaming have come to an agreement that the team will be representing Newbee, as well as NA DotA, in the upcoming TI9.
We would like to thank the players, coach and manager for putting their trust in Newbee and we wish them the best of luck💙.

Quinn ”CCnC” Callahan
Jingjun ”Sneyking” Wu
Arif “MSS-” Anwar
Johan “pieliedie” Åström
Coach: Kurtis ”Aui_2000” Ling
Manager: Jack ”KBBQ” Chen

Post from Newbee’s Facebook page

Newbee’s domination dwindled in the last two years and their all-Chinese roster could not qualify for TI9. But they seem to have made their own luck by making their way to Shanghai through North America! No details have been shed on how and why Newbee became the front runners for this move, but there is a chance (and this is complete speculation) that their manager Jack ‘KBBQ’ Chen’s Chinese roots might have made the connection between the players and the organization. No mention has been made about the old roster and whether or not this set of players will be continuing with Newbee after TI9. With this roster, Newbee will be one of the few organizations attempting an unprecedented second shot at the Aegis. Will they make it? Anything is possible!
