Since 2009, League of Legends has been strictly a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) and has become one of the most popular video games of all time. From filling arenas such as the Staples Center and Madison Square Garden, to travelling around the world each year for international events such as MSI; the game has found its success from being a MOBA. What if League of Legends was more than a MOBA? What if there was another version of the game, perhaps an MMO?

The idea isn’t too far-fetched. The Co-Founder of Riot Games and the Co-Creator of League of Legends, Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill tweeted a little teaser in regards to a League MMO.

It wasn’t long before others around the League community chimed in, promoting their support for the idea.

So what would a League of Legends MMO look like? The lore is already in place. League constantly updates the lore for players to enjoy and soak in. Maps would never be a problem as Riot always has such ease in creating new themes surrounding different events. Cinematics? Might as well put a huge check mark next to that as Riot has provided fans with some of the best cinematics in all of gaming. In case you don’t believe me, let’s take a quick peek at some of Riot’s most epic cinematics.

Now you must keep in mind that this is all speculation and hearsay. Nothing has even been announced or even hinted at that this is even in the works. The important thing to realize is that the thought is there within Riot Games. They know that fans and close supporters of the game want the MMO and will definitely be hearing from the community for the foreseeable future after Tryndamere’s tweet.
