According to a report by ESPN’s Jacob Wolf, Echo Fox plan to shake up their roster right before Tuesday’s League of Legends trade deadline.
The team has already terminated mid laner Kim “Fenix” Jae-hun’s contract, as Fenix announced his departure via Twitter.
I’m currently a free agent. Thanks to @echofoxgg for providing me a great opportunity to play on great organization.
I’m still fully motivated and confident with my plays.

However, according to Wolf’s report – Echo Fox isn’t done yet. The team also plans on releasing AD Carry Johnny “Altec” Ru and support Adrian “Adrian” Ma from the main League of Legends League Championship Series roster. The team plans on replacing both Fenix and Altec’s role from within as Wolf’s report reads that the team will promote both Tanner “Damonte” Damonte and Lawrence “Lost” Hui to starting positions.
As for support, sources tell ESPN that Echo Fox is actively working on a deal surrounding Andy “Smoothie” Ta from Cloud9 but nothing has been finalized. Smoothie hasn’t enjoyed a successful season like he has been used to throughout his League of Legends career. Instead of firmly holding onto the starting role, he has split time with Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam.
Heading into the sixth week of the Summer Split, Echo Fox are currently engaged in a four-way first place tie with FlyQuest, Team Liquid and 100 Thieves. A shakeup just might be what the team needs. Altec has been struggling heavily, as seen by his 2.6 KDA, second worst among ADC’s with 8 or more games played. They have been needing to make a decision in the mid lane as both Fenix and Damonte have been struggling. Getting Damonte consistent playing time will help the team gather up some chemistry instead of having a revolving door around the position. Adrian has seen just one game of action as Echo Fox’s support this year and bringing in a player like Smoothie could provide the team with some upper echelon potential in the bot lane.
Riot Games will lock roster for all North American LCS teams at 8 p.m. ET.
