While PC and console gaming may still dominate worldwide, its hold on countries like Malaysia and Singapore has been disrupted. According to a report from Niko Partners mobile games revenue has grown by $135 million across the last two years while PC games revenue has gone up a modest $40 million.

In Malaysia and Singapore during 2017 to 2019 the mobile numbers were $100 million and $35 million respectively. That’s a LOT of money being spent on mobile games! If you compare it to PC gaming growth in those two countries, there’s a large gap. PC gaming grew by $40 million in Malaysia while Singaporeans only spent $5 million a whopping $60 million less in Malaysia and $30 less than mobile in Singapore.

This charge in mobile was led by none other than Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. The most popular mobile MOBA in the world, MLBB scored a massive $20,938,446 in Malaysia for 2019 making up a fifth of the $100 million gained.

MLBB once again topped the charts in Singapore, netting $12,498,655 in 2019, besting its nearest competitor by nearly $5 million.

It’s also worth noting that many of these titles, especially in Malaysia, are esports titles. Esports has seen a huge rise in popularity in recent years and looks to be continuing on a positive trajectory.
