Near the end of April of this year, Ninja in Pyjamas let go of their previous roster and signed the up-and-coming Chicken Fighters squad, which included Akbar ‘SoNNeikO’ Butaev, who has now been removed from the team.
Akbar ‘SoNNeikO’ Butaev is probably best remembered for his time with Natus Vincere during the squad’s re-emergence a few years ago but since then, the young player has moved on to captaining his own squad, namely Chicken Fighters. The squad made some fantastic showings in their early days, beating the likes of Team Nigma, Team Spirit, Team Liquid, and many others too before they were signed by Ninjas in Pyjamas earlier this year. Since then, with tournaments moving to an online setting, NiP have not had the greatest of results and have now decided to remove SoNNeikO from the roster.
Confirmed via his Twitter account, SoNNeikO revealed that he was out from the squad and since there has been no other communication from the organisation or other players in the roster. Kyle ‘Kyle’ Freedman did post a Tweet to show how bad this move is for NiP – taking into consideration how polite SoNNeikO is.
At the time of writing, the NiP roster is down to four:
- Charilie ‘CharlieDota’ Arat
- Ondřej ‘Supream’ Štarha
- Jonáš ‘SabeRLight’ Volek
- Adrian ‘Era’ Kryeziu
NiP are currently not scheduled to play in any known events, and we are only likely to see a replacement or stand-in for SoNNeikO when they do return to playing. For now, he remains teamless but as such a skilled player, it is also likely that he quickly finds his way into a new squad.
