Live to Win, Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev’s stack will have to find a stand-in for the Epic League Division 2 upper bracket finals against Gambit Esports.
Kiyalbek “dream” Tayirov, currently playing in the carry position for Live to Win is still under contract with Gambit Esports and will not be allowed by the organization to take part in the series against them, SoNNerikO announced via Twitter.
According to Live to Win manager, Gleb “FeelMyPain” Antokhin, Gambit’s condition was a known fact. It seems, however, that they waited to see how the bracket pans out and if it would ever get to the situation where they would have to play against Gambit.
Dream joined Gambit in the post TI9 shuffle, but mid-October this year, when the organization went through a full roster change, he and Danil “gpk” Skutin were the only two players kept under contract and moved to an inactive status.
While gpk was in the meantime bought out by Virtus.pro, Dream was allowed by Gambit to play in SoNNeikO’s newest line-up for a “trial” period. Live to Win was formed towards the end of October and it runs without any sponsor support. Dream joined the stack ahead of the Epic League qualifiers and, interestingly enough, he was allowed by Gambit to play against them in the group stage matches.
Epic League Division 2 upper bracket finals series Live to Win versus Gambit Esports is scheduled for December 11 at 13:00 CET. Live to Win haven’t announced as of yet who will be standing-in for Dream for the series and potentially for the grand finals, if the two teams are to fight against each other for the title on Sunday, December 13.
