Over a month still remains until the Dota 2 Asia Championship 2018 gets underway but the final team to join the ranks of 16 has been decided – as the CIS region rounds up its qualifier.

The grand finals of the CIS regional qualifier for DAC 2018 saw Team Spirit going up against Effect in a best-of-three series for a spot at the main event in Shanghai. After beating Effect in the quarterfinals, Team Spirit took down Natus Vincere and Team Empire, looking ready to claim a spot in China. However, Effect were not to be thwarted, making a brilliant run through the lower bracket, taking down Vega Squadron and Na’Vi – getting them a chance at revenge on their rivals.

Game one of the series was a brutal affair for Team Spirit, as Effect came out all-guns-blazing with Zaur ‘Cooman’ Shakhmurazaev on an unstoppable Troll Warlord with a Dazzle right behind him. In just over thirty minutes and kill after kill going the way of Effect, the towel was thrown in by Spirit, giving their opponents a lead in the series.
The second game of the series saw a much better game from Team Spirit – pushing Effect to their limits. While Spirit looked completely in control of the game for a vast majority of it, it was Effect who had Cooman on the Terrorblade rip through Spirit’s line up and secure themselves the spot at DAC 2018.

DAC 2018 is set to take place from March 30th through to April 7th in Shanghai, China.
